    1. WASHINGTON (July 10, 2015) – A statement from American College of Cardiology President Kim Allan Williams Sr., M.D., FACC, regarding an amendment that would weaken the commitment to NIH funding in the 21st Century Cures Act:“The 21st Century Cures Act, which was drafted in a thoughtful, open, and collaborative process, is noteworthy for its robust investment in the critical work of the National Institutes of Health,” said American College of Cardiology President Kim Allan Williams Sr., M.D., FACC.“While congressional oversight and control of spending is an essential concept, the amendment in question would weaken the 21st Century Cures Act’s strong commitment to research and threaten the bill’s broad base of bipartisan support. On behalf of the American College of Cardiology, its members, and the patients we serve, I encourage all House members to vote ‘no’ on the Brat amendment.”
