MedicalResearch.com: What is the background for this study? What are the main findings?
Response: We analyzed a 20% sample of Medicare beneficiaries hospitalized with a medical condition in 2011-2014, and found that patients treated by female doctors have lower mortality and readmission rates than those cared for by male doctors.

Response: Female doctors may be providing higher-quality of care compared for male doctors.
MedicalResearch.com: What recommendations do you have for future research as a result of this study?
Response: Further studies are warranted that studies the differences in practice patterns between male and female doctors that led to the difference in patient mortality and readmission rates.

Response: We look forward to seeing a future research that identifies key behaviors of female physicians that led them to have better patient outcomes.
