How to Hit Health and Fitness Goals

Setting goals is a common strategy that people use when it comes to health and fitness – and for good reason. People tend to work better when they have clear targets in mind that they can work towards achieving. However, plenty of us are going to struggle along the way. No matter what your health and fitness goals are, here are some of the ways that you can hit them just a little bit more easily.

Make Your Goals Measurable

runner-running-sportsThe problem with the goals that many people set is that they are simply not measurable. For example, the goal could be to do with running. Rather than just simply saying ‘I would like to be able to run for a while’, you should instead say ‘I would like to be able to run for a mile’. There you have a clear target to aim for. Once you hit this target, you will then be able to make the necessary adjustments to it. For example, you can increase the distance that you are running or say that you will do it in a certain amount of time.

Set Both Short and Long Term Goals

While it is great to have long term goals, they can start to feel a very long way off if you are not careful Instead, it is better to have some short term goals that you can hit along the way. For example, you may have an ideal weight that you would like to be in mind. However, you should then start to work out how much weight that you can lose in a shorter time frame. These are like little steps along the way rather than making a giant leap – to paraphrase Neil Armstrong!

Ensure Your Goals are Attainable

While it is great to be ambitious, there is simply no point in setting goals that are unattainable. This is simply down to the fact that you are much less likely to hit them, and you can easily start to become disheartened as a result. You also need to think about what is going to make your goals more attainable over time. For example, are you going to use an app such as LIFE Fasting Tracker. Perhaps you can get a workout buddy who goes out to do exercise with you and ensures that you get to the gym on the days when you really do not feel like it!

Have Fun Along the Way

Fitness goals are much more likely to be hit if they are actually fun and enjoyable. For example, there is bound to be some sort of activity that you actually enjoy doing. So, if you are sick of the machines in the gym, why not try a sport out instead? If it does not actually feel like work to achieve your fitness and health goals, this is half the battle already completed!

Hopefully, these four pieces of advice can help you with hitting your health and fitness goals.
