MedicalResearch.com: What is the background for this study? What are the main findings?

Response: Although the health effects of e-cigarettes remains unclear, e-cigarettes have been marketed as an approach for smoking cessation. Previous studies have reported an increase in e-cigarette use in US people since 2010. The current study showed that from 2014 to 2016, there was an increase in ever use of e-cigarettes but decline in current use of e-cigarettes.

MedicalResearch.com: What should readers take away from your report?

Response: The decline in current use but increase in ever use in e-cigarettes may suggest that some individuals are trying but not continuing use of e-cigarettes. However, it might be too soon to draw e-cigarette usage trends from just three years of data.

MedicalResearch.com: What recommendations do you have for future research as a result of this work?

Response: Continued surveillance of e-cigarette use among populations is needed. Moreover, it become imperative to understand health impact of the changes in e-cigarette use in US adults.

Nothing to disclose.
