MedicalResearch.com: What is the background for this study? What are the main findings?

Response: Atopic dermatitis has been associated with various comorbidities. With the emergence of biologics for the treatment of atopic dermatitis, the hypothesis has been raised that atopic dermatitis is a systemic immune disease affecting more than just the skin.

MedicalResearch.com:  What should readers take away from your report?

Response: That major comorbidities in adults with atopic dermatitis are associated predominately with smoking and to some degree with severe disease.

MedicalResearch.com: What recommendations do you have for future research as a result of this study?

Response: Physicians should advocate smoking cessation in their patients with atopic dermatitis, and even better, prevent adolescents for beginning to smoke.
