11 Aug How Prata Health Supports Joint Replacement Recovery at Home
Hip and knee replacement surgery is common and getting more common, and more patients are choosing to recover at home rather than in a skilled nursing facility once they leave the hospital. More than 790,000 knee replacement procedures are performed in the United States each year, according to data cited by the CDC, and a growing share of those patients go straight home instead of to a rehab facility. That shift only works if the home recovery plan actually covers what a facility would have: pain control, wound and drain care, and getting the patient moving on schedule.
Prata Health, a concierge nursing company that has spent about a year and a half building its practice around Scottsdale, Phoenix, Paradise Valley, Desert Mountain, and Fountain Hills, built its post-surgery recovery nursing service around one Registered Nurse handling pain medication, surgical drains, and ambulation support from the first day home until the patient is steady on their own, rather than a caregiver with an occasional nurse check-in.
