What are the main findings? Response: Earlier research identified arterial hypertension as a cause of chronic kidney disease but in older persons the relation between blood pressure and kidney function is little investigated.This study analyses the relation between dynamic blood pressure measurements and kidney function over time. A decline in blood pressure over time turned out to be a strong risk factor for kidney function decline in all age strata.

Dr. Mulder: The glomerular function of childhood cancer survivors treated with nephrotoxic therapy declines very soon after treatment and does not recover. The glomerular function declines over time. This decline is comparable to survivors treated without nephrotoxic therapy.
