29 Jun Is Human Lifespan Really Limited to 100 Years?
MedicalResearch.com Interview with:
Pr. Siegfried Hekimi PhD
McGill University
MedicalResearch.com: What is the background for this study? What are the main findings?
Response: We analyzed data about the longest living individuals over the period of time during which the record can be trusted.
We found that there was no detectable plateauing of the maximum possible lifespan. This is consistent with not clearly observed plateau in the currently increasing average lifespan as well.
MedicalResearch.com: What should clinicians and patients take away from your report?
Response: The reader should take away that we don’t know what the limit of the increase in human lifespan is going to be. It could be that people will succeed in living much longer than now.
They should not take away that we have shown that people will live forever. And certainly not the people currently alive.
MedicalResearch.com: What recommendations do you have for future research as a result of this study?
Response: i recommend that more medical resources should be spent on prevention as it appears clear that the long lifespan we enjoy is because we live sheltered and often healthy lives.
MedicalResearch.com: Thank you for your contribution to the MedicalResearch.com community.
