Answer: I would say that the main finding of our study is the nine independent risk factors identified for Young-Onset Dementia.

MedicalResearch.com: Where any of the findings unexpected?

Answer: Yes, perhaps especially the fact that a previous alcohol intoxication was such a strong risk factor.

MedicalResearch.com: What should patients and clinicians take away from your study?

Answer: I would again pin-point the strong relationship between alcohol intoxications and later Young-Onset Dementia development.

MedicalResearch.com: What further research do you recommend as a result of this study?

Answer: This is a very good question. For me the impact of alcohol was totally unexpected, perhaps more studies are needed to disentangle the relationship between alcohol and dementia with respect to mechanisms among other things.
