MedicalResearch.com: What is the background for this study? What are the main findings?
Response: The key finding of this study is: free, comprehensive audiologic care, including hearing aids and fitting, is feasible within a well-established free clinic model.
We found that donated hearing aids and volunteer health care providers were able to run the clinic and that 20 patients have thus far been fit with hearing aids.

Response: This study reports the authors’ experiences starting and maintaining a clinic that provides free audiograms, hearing aids, and hearing aid care to underinsured residents of southeast Michigan.
MedicalResearch.com: What recommendations do you have for future research as a result of this study?
Response: We hope our work can assist clinicians set up similar clinics in their communities.

Response: Our future goal is to increase awareness within our community regarding this health care opportunity so more people can take advantage of it
